Crocodile in the water 
We hadn't been out very long when we saw our first crocodile
He looks rather like a floating log, but we
saw him move off the shore into the water
 

 
Trees grow to the water's edge 
The trees appear to grow right to the edge of the water
 

 
Iguana on a branch 
An iguana sunning on the branch behind the leaves in the center

The iguana moved into a better position while
we quietly coasted up toward him
 

 
Mangrove roots 
Mangroves grow air roots down from the branches into the water

The mass of mangrove roots would make land travel next to impossible
 

 
A guanacaste tree 
We got out and walked to hunt for monkeys
Here is a guanacaste tree, after which the province is named
